Snow Storm Hampers New York Commerce

A State Disaster Emergency was declared in 13 counties from October 29, 2011 by New York Governor Cuomo due to severe snow storm disturbance.  This occurrence has extended the tax filings and other payment closing dates for taxpayers.  New Jersey and Connecticut made the same move with the latter allowing until November 15th and the former until November 7th for property tax rebate programs.  Withholding taxes from employees are excluded from the said extension in New York.  Those taxpayers who are severely affected do not need to submit a waiver to obtain the relief.  For those who file via e-file or web file returns may look for instructions on the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance website.
