This book covers a wide range of financial topics under the 'budgeting' heading. My favourite tips were the ones about your credit report (as I didn't know that not using your available finance facilities enough could hurt your score), how to create a budget to track your expenses and some of the linked online resources. The author explains these complex financial terms in an easy to understand fashion which is helpful for anyone that needs to further educate themselves. There are many little gems scattered throughout the book which can also help you save money if you pay enough attention.

Overall: Great info and a good read for anyone looking budget better.

As a former budget counselor, I ran across way too many people who had absolutely no clue how their financial situations had gotten so bad. Written in an easy-to-understand and friendly manner, this book would be an asset to anyone who KNOWS they need to take control of their finances but who doesn't want to have to read a 200+ page book to learn what they need to do.

Emily has done an excellent job of walking the reader through the different things to consider when setting up a budget and then how to move towards being in a financially healthy position.

Read it and take action ... or it will do you no good!

Gene has done a great job of capturing the finance essentials every manager needs to deal with - in a logical, easy to read manner. I found that simply reading - not studying - the book gave me far more financial understanding than any theoretical b-school course, and in much less time. The anecdotal illustrations are very helpful in delivering clear explanations without getting bogged down with jargon. Well worth the read.

Give this book five stars. For some reason Amazon inserted only three into my review.

I teach graduate level finance for non-financial managers. I have searched many titles in an attempt to find an easy to understand finance book for students. Thank you, Gene!

The book translates the language of numbers into easy to understand English. Financial concepts are provided in a step-by-step method so that the reader develops skills that may be used immediately.

The book is an easy read with a light touch of humor so that even the non-financial student can grasp and understand difficult topics. Two examples of the way this is approached: "He bit who?" translates to EBITDA; and the checklist for managers at the end of each chapter provides valuable tips for the reader.

When MLK led people into protest, he told them to be ready to be beaten and unjustly treated. He told them to keep focus. They fought for civil rights, not tents and personal property damage.

Clearly you have no idea and no care about how to protest effectively. If I asked you about the letter from Birmingham jail and boycotts, you would have no clue. This movement is aimless.

I know all about MLK. It may or may not surprise you to know that the Canadian education system covers Canadian, American and British history extensively.

What worked in the past does not always work today. As said before, individuals are corruptable and destroyable. This movement does not need a leader to succeed. Different times require different tactics, sweetie. Keep up, please.

@herpderpmonkey I'm saying that there are always different ways to solve problems. There is no set guidelines to protesting, hon. Ghandi used hunger strikes, MLK used empowered leadership and (recently) the Egyptian Revolution used leaderless, direct-democrasy (just as the Occupy movement is).
